Heating & Boilers · Greater Vancouver
Hot water running through tubing in the floor gives even, quiet heat with no vents or drafts. We install new hydronic radiant systems and fix the ones that are not heating as they should.
Radiant heat can go in during new construction, a basement or suite renovation, or a bathroom remodel. Tubing is laid in a slab, in a thin pour over the subfloor, or in panels under the floor, then connected to a manifold and a boiler or other heat source. The right method depends on the floor build-up and the finish you are planning.
Cold zones, uneven floors or a system that takes forever to warm up usually come down to air in the loops, a failed pump or zone valve, unbalanced loops, or controls and mixing valves that are set up wrong. Most of that can be put right without touching the floor.
Separate zones let you run bedrooms cooler and bathrooms warmer. Mixing valves keep floor temperatures safe and comfortable. Good controls make more difference to comfort and running cost than almost anything else in the system.
The same hot water system can feed hydronic baseboards, panel radiators, older cast iron radiators, towel warmers and fan coils. We add and relocate radiators during renovations, replace pumps and zone valves, and fix systems where some rooms never get warm.
The heat source can be a boiler, a combi boiler or an air-to-water heat pump, and a well set up system can switch between them.
